Jair Bolsonaro has been arrested after authorities found he posed a definite escape threat while under domestic detention.

The one-time leader was convicted of planning a government overthrow in the ninth month and given more than 27 years in prison, but he was staying under confinement pending legal challenges.

Top Judicial Official Justice Moraes said the decision to arrest the elderly politician was a precautionary step after recent developments were revealed.
